Waist-up seated oval studio portrait of Ole Nelson [as written on published Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers, Volume 1 and on the Regimental Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20; written as Ole Nelson on card backing of portrait], a private in Company F, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in the state of Iowa. On December 20, 1861, he enlisted in Iowa and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on December 29, 1861, at the age of 21. He was wounded during the battle at Stone River, Tennessee and was sent to a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. On December 31, 1862, he was discharged in Madison, Wisconsin from the wounds received. |
