Freight, Inc., has recently purchased 15 International model DCO-405 tractors, rated up to 79,000 pounds gross combination weight, as fleet replacements. With the assignment of these Internationals to the firm's eastern division serving Ohio east to the New England states, that division became a 100 per cent sleeper operation. The 134-inch wheelbase DCO-405s are equipped with 72-inch sleeper cabs, 220-hp. diesel engines, five-speed direct-in-fifth transmissions, and two-speed rear axles. A.C.E. operates a 240-truck fleet which last year traveled 13 million miles serving the states of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
