Pioneer Pauline Frederick
Pauline Frederick (center in the fur coat), then the only woman news broadcaster at ABC, was one of many prominent women who addressed the Advertising Women of New York, a professional organization for women. In 1948 she was promoted to a full-time news reporter specializing in coverage of the United Nations. Her award-winning career is considered to have opened the door for women television reporters. To Miss Frederick's right is Nan Mastin, the AWNY luncheon chair. The other people are, left to right, Earl Mullin, Grace Johnson, and Thomas Vellotta. |
