The photograph was taken for "Production; A Pictorial Report," an article appearing in the February-March 1959 issue of "Harvester World Magazine." The original caption on a similar photograph reads, "Impressive but hardly novel is the sight of Farmalls rolling out of Rock Island, Illinois, by the trainload and truckload. From the day last summer when the new line was introduced, the tractor builders at Farmall Works have had to step lively to keep up with customer demand. Since then their ranks have been swelled by several hundred and their daily production rate has risen 34%. The order bank remains substantial. At Louisville Works, home of smaller Farmalls and utility tractors, schedules have been boosted by 25%. Despite a 65-day strike, IH farm tractor sales are running ahead of the pace of '58." |
