Farmall A Tractor Fitted with Homemade Mail Cab

A Farmall A tractor that has been fitted with a homemade cab delivering mail to a farm. The cab on top of the tractor has a decal on the side that reads: "McCormick-Deering FARMALL." The back of the cab has a "FARMALL" decal and a "U.S. MAIL" decal. The original caption reads: "Typical farm house served by Frances Shirbroun, rural carrier, Coon Rapids, Iowa. The streamlined body on the Farmall-A is home made, and from having had experience as a farmer, it is evident that Mr. Shirbroun is proud of the name 'Farmall.' There is no door at the rear of this model, the entrance being on the right side over the fender where he sits as he drives and reaches the mail boxes without taking his left hand off the steering wheel." |
