This photograph was taken to accompany an article entitled "Builders of Hoover Dam Select Internationals" by L.E. Roberson, "International Trail" magazine, March 1932, pp.9-11. The caption on a similar photograph reads, "It is necessary to dig far back into the cliffs. This work is going on 24 hours a day. Note the size of the boulders loosened by blasting, which form a part of the load."
