Waist-up seated oval studio portrait of Peter A. Myhre, a corporal in Company I, 15th Wisconsin Infantry in uniform holding a musket across his chest. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in St. Laurence, Wisconsin. On December 9, 1861, he enlisted in Scandinavia, Wisconsin and on December 20, 1861, he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 26. On December 5, 1864, he was promoted to corporal. He was captured on May 27, 1864 near Dallas, Georgia during the Battle of New Hope Church. On October 4, 1864, he died of scarbutis at the prisoner of war camp in Andersonville, Georgia. He is buried at the Andersonville National Cemetery, grave: 1028. |
