Prosperity Postcard
Postcard distributed by International Harvester Co. showing a color illustration of a a little man with a corn cob body, a shield in the shape of the International Harvester logo, and a spear made of a stalk of grain. The figure — named "Prosperity," or "Prospy" — appeared frequently in company advertising of the time. Below the fairy is a poem/letter which reads: "In me you see 'Prosperity,' The Farmer's own good fairy; I bear the emblem 'I.H.C.', That's why my smile's so merry, I come to teach new ways of thrift To better each condition - Liens, debts, and mortgages I lift; Your welfare is my mission." "Yours, Prosperity 'Prospy' for short" "P.S. If you've a friend who's far away Send on my postal card to-day - And if your friend will write to me I'll gladly mail my history." |
