Color lithograph. The top banner reads: "C.S. Primrose presents the musical comedy farce 'Don't Lie to Your Wife'." Below this, upper right, is the author's name, Campbell B. Casad. The image depicts three well-dressed women holding whips who have harnessed three equally well-dressed men as though they were plow horses. The woman in the center has a foot on the shoulder of the man in front of her. The caption at bottom reads "Playing horse with hubby." The poster has a few folds. Casad, a newspaperman and sometimes press representative (cf. "The Swing Mikado") attempted unsuccessfully to break into playwriting before the First World War. The only extant reviews of the show mention most prominently the quality of the ladies' gowns. |
