Captain Mons Grinager
Three-quarter length studio portrait of Mons Grinager, a captain in Company K, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Freeborn, Minnesota. On January 31, 1862, he was commissioned as captain by the governor of Wisconsin and was mustered into service on February 11, 1862, in Madison, Wisconsin at age 29. During the battle at Stone River, Tennessee, he was severely wounded. From November 1863 to March 1865, he was on recruiting service. He was mustered out of service with Company K on February 11, 1865, at Chattanooga, Tennessee. |
