George Johnson

Head and shoulders studio portrait of George Johnson, a second lieutenant in Company G, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Beloit, Wisconsin. On September 28, 1861, he was enlisted as a sergeant and mustered into service on December 13, 1861, in Madison, Wisconsin at age 25. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant on October 1, 1862. On August 28, 1863, he received a thirty day furlough to Beloit, Wisconsin. He mustered out with Company G on January 1, 1865, at Chattanooga, Tennessee. |
