Svend Samuelson
Quarter-length studio portrait of Svend Samuelson, a second lieutenant in Company F, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He held residence in Eaton, Wisconsin. On October 21, 1861, he enlisted in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and was commissioned as a second lieutenant on January 11, 1861. He was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on January 14, 1862, at the age of 36. Starting on September 21, 1863, he was sent to a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee where he remained until he resigned on November 15, 1863, because of disability. |
