"La Guardia" Newspaper Organizers

Roberto Hernandez (left) and Esequiel Guzman (center) work on the layout of "La Guardia" newspaper. The underground bilingual newspaper was published in Spanish and English from 1969-1982 in Milwaukee. The newspaper was created during the time of the labor movement led by Chicano laborers' union Obreros Unidos (United Workers) to improve migrant workers rights. Organizadores del periódico "La Guardia" Roberto Hernández (a la izquierda) y Esequiel Guzmán (al centro) trabajan en la composición del periódico "La Guardia." El periódico clandestino era publicado en español e inglés entre los años 1969-1982 en Milwaukee. El periódico fue creado durante el esfuerzo laboral dirigido por trabajadores chicanos del sindicato Obreros Unidos, para mejorar los derechos de los trabajadores emigrantes. |
