The Poplars Cottage at Nature Lovers Paradise

Exterior view of the Poplars Cottage surrounded by trees, part of Nature Lovers Paradise on Jackson Lake. Text above the photograph says, "The POPLARS --- Each cottage has a screened porch the full width of the front. Each cottage is equipped with one hammock. Toilets are of the outhouse type, kept clean. We would like to have electric lights, inside toilets, running water, etc. but we are just starting and cannot afford them yet as most of our money is invested in our land. However as much as we would like to have these things we do not consider them absolutely necessary. But good kitchen equipment to please the ladies and good beds to rest on; these we considered absolute necessities if our guests were going to have a good time while here; and we have gone the limit on these things and believe you will have a hard time to find better equipment anywhere, even in cottages renting for two and three times the price of ours." Located within the Chequamegon National Forest, Jackson Lake is a 142-acre drainage lake with a navigable outlet channel to Namakagon Lake – which is a 3,227 acre drainage lake at the headwaters of the Namakagon River in Bayfield County. |
