This is a photostat copy of a manuscript map in the National Archives showing a plan of Fort Howard and a view of its north side. Originally surveyed by William Howard for Major Charles Gratiot and probably accompanied a letter of Gratiot’s dated Sept. 1, 1816. This map shows the location of the fox river, a cranberry marsh, batteries, officers quarters, and soldiers barracks. The bottom margin includes an illustration of the fort. |
