Map or Atlas
Land of the Winnebago

A map of Southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois showing the areas inhabited by the Ho-Chuck, formerly known as the Winnebago. Some of the location names given on the map are in both the Ho-Chunk and English. The insets along the sides of the map give descriptions and history of the Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Potawatomi, and Sauk-Fox tribes as well as descriptions of The Land, the Moccasin Trace, and The Four Seasons. In addition, the map also includes portraits of Wabokieshiek (White Cloud – The Winnebago Prophet), Tshizunhaukau (He Who Runs With The Deer), Chief Nawkaw (Wood), and Chief Black Hawk. |
