Solar Division Craftsmen at Work

Technicians are working in a clean-room in the Solar Division of International Harvester. Original caption reads: "Much of the precise beryllium machining and fabrication for Solar's SNAP-27 project was done in this room. The hospital-clean room is air-conditioned, has glare-proof bright lights, and a built-in vacuum cleaner system and is equipped with special tools. Here, Solar's craftsmen work with metals such as beryllium, titanium, refractory metals, dispersion-strengthened metals and stainless steels and super-alloys." |
