Candidates Debate
Republican Congressman Alvin O'Konski (left) and Democrat David R. Obey (right) during a break in their campaign debate. Because of redistricting after the 1970 census, during which Wisconsin lost a seat in Congress, Obey and O'Konski were forced to run against each other. The moderator was Lee Sherman Dreyfus, (standing in the middle) then the Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. |
