Louise Homer and Children | Photograph | Wisconsin Historical Society
Original caption from a newspaper clipping: "Mme. Louise Homer, Famous Contralto, and her four children. Mme. Homer, famous American prima donna, is also one of the operatic stage's most famous mothers. Her devotion to her children is well known. The singer doesn't believe in forcing distasteful careers upon children, and says that after a mother has familiarized herself with her children's ideas and ideals she must most solicitously look toward the development of their particular talents. In the above picture, reading from left to right, are Catherine, Mme. Homer, Hester, Ann and Louise. Catherine and Ann are twins."
