Map or Atlas
Map for Canton Boycott
A map with handwritten notes and locations for Freedom Fighters participating in the Canton Boycott, for orientation during picketing. It is not a map showing the stores to boycott. Some of the locations are public buildings, others are establishments sympathetic to the movement. The handwritten "Freedom Fighter's Legend" reads, "1-Freedom House, 838 Luz Ave., 2-Court House, 3-George Washingtons Grocery Store, 4-Pleasant Green Holiness Church, 5-Community Center, 313 Franklin, 6-City Hall, 7-Madison County Jail." The map may have been sponsored by Madison County Dairies, Inc., that produced Mosby's Milk (an ad for which appears on the map), a business that was on the boycott list. |
