Colonel Cyrus Marion Butt
Quarter plate ambrotype portrait of Colonel Cyrus Marion Butt (b. 1833) of Viroqua. Col. Butt is seated sideways in a chair with one hand in his lap and one hand draped over the back of the chair. Col. Butt served in the Civil War with the Wisconsin 25th Infantry Regiment, Company A and later for the Wisconsin 48th Infantry Regiment, where he was promoted to major and later Lieutenant Colonel. After the war Butt returned to Viroqua and resumed a law practice. |
