| the Prospect Avenue Mansions Historic District represents the last remaining cluster of high-style, late Victorian housing on Prospect Avenue, one of Milwaukee's premier residential streets during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The district, composed primarily of finely crafted mansions and large-scale townhouses, illustrates the broad range of architectural styles popular between 1876 and 1907 among upper-class urban property owners. Tudor, Elizabethan, and English Renaissance Revival styles predominate, but the district also includes Queen Anne, Classical Revival, Italianate and Georgian Revival style structures. |
