Allouez Water Department and Town Hall Building 2143 S Webster Avenue Date of Construction: 1947 Architect: Fueller, Schober, Berners, Safford & Jahn Architects
In 1947 this building was constructed to serve multiple functions for the Town of Allouez: the town offices, town board room, and water department offices. Constructed in a residential location, the building was designed to harmonize with the surrounding suburban, post-war styles that define the character of the neighborhood. The Colonial Revival style of the building, therefore, helps to make this building part of the neighborhood. Characteristics of the style that are recognizable on this building include its symmetrical front, an accentuated front door with a gabled pediment, large block modillions under the eaves and double-hung windows evenly spaced on each side of the centered entrance.
Allouez municipal leaders’ sustained commitment to the care, maintenance and preservation of this building continues to reflect the pride the community has in this water department and town hall. |
