Settled by Yankees in the 1840s and 1850s and platted around a village green like a New England village, this well-preserved community remains unspoiled and uniquely charming. The district, located at the corner of Hwy 138 and Hwy 59, includes 35 mostly brick dwellings in Greek and Gothic Revival styles, as well as a store, two churches, a school, a mill site, a cheese factory, a brickyard, and several outbuildings. |
