| This industrial suburb is a segment of the former Village of Bay View that grew around the Milwaukee Iron Company and a "company town/" Built between 1870 and 1930, this mixture of homes and small businesses exhibits a full range of vernacular architecture. Situated on Lake Michigan, this is a rare example of lakefront property that has remained in the ownership of the middle class. The district includes Milwaukee's only remaining artesian well. |
