It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 1973: "The congregation of the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Milwaukee was organized in 1858 by dissident members of the Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Church. From 1858-1894 they occupied several south side buildings and then built this brick church where they remained for sixty years. No significant alteration or additions." "The congregation of the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Milwaukee was organized in 1858 by former members of the Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Church who preferred the the liturgy and vestments of the Lutheran Church of Norway. From 1858 to 1894 they occupied several south side buildings and then built this tawny brick church. They remained here for sixty years, moving to their present church on West Wisconsin Avenue in 1954. From that date to 1968 the structure on West Scott served Advent Lutheran Church. Its neighbors in the Walker Square area include several other late 19th century churches. At 11th and Washington stands the one-time Salem Evangelical Church (now St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church), a Gothic Revival building dated 1874. Just east of Our Savior's are two more churches in the Gothic vein--St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church of 1885 at 1203 South 8th Street and St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in 1893 at 1105 South 7th Street, both accompanied by Italianate school buildings constructed during the 1870's. Architect Koch employed an occasional Gothic detail in his detail in his design for Our Savior's, but his major theme was the Romanesque Revival style.
