Named for a former member of the Board of Regents. 1988- "Elizabeth Waters Hall, a women's residence hall opened in 1940, is nestled into the slop north of Observatory Drive. The hall is named for Elizabeth Agnes Waters of Fond du Lac who furthered education for women. She was a school teacher for almost 50 years and a UW Regent for 15 years, and was vice president of the board at the time of her death in 1933. When attending Regents' meetings, her custom was to stay among students at the original Chadbourne Hall where she had lived while attending the University." |
