NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. The Smith Brothers were one of the largest commercial fishing businesses in Port Washington during the early twentieth century when fishing was the primary industry of the small city. The brothers constructed a series of buildings and sheds at the harbor between 1922 and 1938. The only remaining resource associated with the Smith Brothers is the Fish Net House, located at 120 South Wisconsin Street facing the harbor near Sauk Creek, and constructed in 1924. Other resources related to the fishing industry, including other smokehouses, sheds, and garages have all been demolished.
