NOTES
Additional Information:2010: Contemporary in style, the four-story St. Joan Antida High School is sheathed with brick and topped with a flat roof. The main (north) facade is defined on the first three stories by a large concrete surround in which are three continuous bands of replacement plate-glass and awning windows with expanses of colored stone panel between each level. A similar design is seen on the second and third floors of the west elevation. The main facade at the eastern corner features a tall metal cross set against panels surrounded with concrete trim. A two-story block extends from the rear (south) side of the building and it is also sheathed in brick but is defined by exposed concrete structural beams which form a series of bays outfitted with a series of replacement plate-glass windows.

This all-girls high school was established in 1954 by the Sisters of Charity of St. Joan Antida. The order arrived in Milwaukee from Italy in 1932 to work with the Lady of Pompeii parish located in Milwaukee's Third Ward neighborhood. The school continues as an all-girls Catholic high school and has a capacity of 480 students.

Resurveyed as part of Milwaukee Downtown Connector Arch/History Survey (2010), Prepared by Heritage Research.
