Designed in the Jacobethan style, it is in excellent condition and has retained its original form and design. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: A.S. Goodrich conducted one of the largest cigar jobbing houses in the city of Milwaukee. A native of Erie County, New York, he came to Milwaukee in 1867, where he was a traveling salesman for Ball and Godrich, a grocery house. Establishing his company in 1890, he wholesaled a complete line of foreign and domestic cigars, pipes, and smokers' articles. Resurveyed as part of Milwaukee Downtown Connector Arch/History Survey (2010), Prepared by Heritage Research. |
