Historical/Architectural Survey: Heritage Research Ltd., 2005 Built in 1934 by Fred Schmidt and designed by Hugo C. Haeuser, this gas/service station was originally affiliated with the Wadhams Oil Company. In 1946, Schmidt's son-in-law, Melvin Grebe took over the station and, by the 1950s, it was associated with the Mobil Gas Company. Grebe added a trucking and excavating operation to the family business. The station currently operates under Fred's grandchildren, Mark and Dona Grebe, under the Hometown Oil Company name, along with a convenience shop. |
