Building was part of Milwaukee-Downer College. Small red-brown brick museum designed in harmony with neighboring Greene Hall. Museum built to house the natural history collection of Thomas Arnold Greene (1827-1894), who was a Milwaukee druggist and a collector of plants, minerals, and fossils. His family donated the collection of 75,000 to 100,000 specimens to Milwaukee Downer College in 1911. The building continues to operate as a museum under the supervision of the Department of Geological Sciences. One story, red brick museum has a flat roof and round arched entrance with oak leaf decoration on the side pilasters and typanum over the door; it is in the stripped classical style. |
