Additional Information: | 2010: This two-and-one-half-story, cream brick Queen Anne house carries a one-story, 1950 commercial block on its main (southwest) facade. The house has a gabled roof with gabled wings outfitted with modern casement windows and sheathed with asphalt shingles. The building features segmental and round-arch window openings with corbelled hoods and molded limestone sills. Fenestration consists of one-over-one, double-hung windows. Designed by C.F. Ringer, the subject residence was built in 1897 for owner Justus Vallat at an approximate cost of $6,000.00. City directories list Vallat as an engineer. In 1939, the building was the office of psychologist Herbert Jierscheck. In 1950, the brick commercial addition was constructed on the primary facade. By 1962, the building had been subdivided into eight apartments, as well as the law offices of Jos. Zirno and Michael Pulito. Resurveyed as part of Milwaukee Downtown Connector Arch/History Survey (2010), Prepared by Heritage Research. |
