[A] "In 1898 Edward founded the Zahn Dry Goods Company on Main Street. In 1924 he built the large store that stands at 500 Monument Square (in the Old Main Street Historic District). Zahn's was Racine's largest local department store. It closed in the early 1980s. Harriet and Edward lived here until their deaths, hers in 1917 and his in 1930."
