Additional Information: | THE GOLDEN RONDELLE WAS ORIGINALLY PART OF A LARGER STRUCTURE BUILT AS THE SC JOHNSON PAVILLION AT THE 1964-65 WORLD'S FAIR IN NEW YORK. LIPPINCOTT AND MARGULIES WERE THE ARCHITECTS OF RECORD FOR THAT BUILDING. AFTER THE FAIR, THE SAUCER PORTION OF THE SC JOHNSON PAVILLION WAS DISASSEMBLED AND MOVED TO RACINE. TALIESIN ASSOCIATED ARCHITECTS WERE HIRED TO REDESIGN THE THEATER AND INCORPORATE THE RONDELLE INTO THE FABRIC OF THE EXISTING JOHNSON WAX HEADQUARTERS. THE SAUCER WAS REASSEMBLED IN RACINE IN 1966 AND PLACED ON A CHEROKEE RED BRICK AND PYREX TUBING BASE. |
