Additional Information: | This was the long time residence of the Langenhan family. The 1881 Sauk County business directory lists August Langenhan as a blacksmith with a business in horse shoeing, wagon ironing and a general repair shop in Ableman. A 1903 Reedsburg newspaper article notes that the house was to receive a large and elaborate porch. The current porch dimensions appear to date to that period; however, like the house the porch has been remodeled. The house has been added onto over time, as indicated by the changes in windows and foundation; however, the application of modern siding obscures these junctures as well as possible decorative detailing. |
