Additional Information: | Locally designated: 7/12/83. This is a two story birck Italianate house with round-arched windows and pedimented cornice. It was started in 1874 for Dr. Fuller and was finished for William Prentiss. Prentiss was a former mayor of Milwaukee. "The Prentiss House is an Italianate, two-story, rectangluar block with a low hipped roof. At the eaves, large carved wooden brackets and a pediment accent the cornice. The exterior is clad in painted cream brick. The round arched windows have stone sills, stone keystones and projecting brick surrounds. The house has been little altered. According to the fire insurance maps there have been a variety of porches on the front. The current porch was added about 1910 and is probably similar in scale in size to the original. A full rear porch was added in 1905." (A). As of 1944, architect Herbert W. Tullgren lived here. |
