Additional Information: | PHOTO OBSCURED BY TREES This house has undergone several (as many as six) additions since the original portion was built in 1850. Additions were built on to the rear of the house - in 2005 the presentation of the prinicipal facade was similar to its 1850 appearance. The house was built by Magdalence and Henry Engle in 1850 as a worker's cottage. In 1858 the Engles sold it to Horace Norton. Between 1858 and 1892 the house changed hands four more times. In 1892 Julia and W. Frederick Billings bought the house from Mary Buckingham. Between then and 1922 the Billings' borrowed money on the house five times. This may be the period when some of the additions were made to the house. |
