Additional Information: | "A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2023- resurveyed as part of Milwaukee Houses of Worship thematic survey. From 1975 Houses of Worship: ""Bethany Lutheran is an extremely typical example of 1920's late Gothic Revival churches. It is supportive of church architecture as found in the city and is a stability factor to the surrounding neighborhood. Historical Statement: Bethany Lutheran was established in 1893. A central school association was formed in 1921 with Trinity, Bethany and St. Thomas Lutheran. St. Thomas later dropped out and Hope Lutheran was added. German liturgy was used until 1921. A 1930 addition was designed by Van Ryn and DeGelleke.""" |
