NOTES
Additional Information:This distinguished neoclassical ediface was by the reknowned Chicago architect, Solon Spencer Beman, and built by Anton Kratochival. Here he executed a formal plan with very refined moldings and a strictly symmetrical composition with eight Ionic columns. The white stucco finish accentuates the simple beauty of moldings and the shadows they cast.

IONIC COLONNADE,PEDIMENTS OVER ENTRIES [Date Cnst:-1921]

[B] The church was designed by Spencer Solon Beman (1887-1952), a Chicago architect who was the son of Solon Spencer Beman (1853-1914), the planner of Pullman, Illinois. Spencer designed and built about eighty churches for Christian Science congregations throughout the Middle West. The Racine congregation was organized in 1887, and after twelve itinerant years, the members bought and remodeled a house at Seventh and Main into a church, where they met until services were held here for the first time in December of 1921. The interior, however, was not completed until 1926.
