It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. Erected to house the second Rennebohm Drug Store (known as Store No. 1 after the original No. 1, located across University Ave, was razed). The store remained for 56 years. Mr. Rennebohm personalized the building with a capital "R" on the parapet on both the north and west sides, and with two horizontal rows of decorative tablets bearing a design suggestive of the pharmacist's mortar. 2005- Nominated as City of Madison Landmark as UW plans were being finalized for Wisconsin Institute for Discovery that would occupy block and demolish Rennebohm Building. After diligent consideration the Madison Landmarks Commission rejected the nomination. Copy of nomination in site file. |
