Additional Information: | Original permit dated June 16, 1913 Owner was Adolph Wollmer (1881-1941)who lived upstairs and ran a butcher shop on 1st floor. Architect was Kamschulte & Webster. Mason was Concrete State Block Company. Carpenter was William. F. Johnson. Original cost $5,000. Adolph's wife Marie was a Zingsheim. Kamschulte was married to a Margaret Zingsheim in 1907 so family ties seem to have led to this commission. The building remained a butcher shop under different proprietors (Frank B. Lang, Otto H. Effenheim, Herman W. Miller) into the late 1940s and possibly later. Guiding Star Baptist Church occupied the building starting in 1965. The building has recently sat vacant. Was demolished with HUD money by 2017. |
