Additional Information: | 1998- This property is a farmstead that encompasses several undistinguished elements, including a gabled ell farmhouse that is sheathed in faux-brick and asphalt shingles and features a hipped-roof porch with modern supports, a gabled garage, three gabled, board sheds, and a plain chicken coop. The most notable structure on the property is a 2 1/2-story bank barn sided with vertical milled boards that rests on a raised fieldstone foundation. The fieldstone construction of this barn is indicative of Germanic roots. The farmstead belonged to second-generation, German-American William Stern who, with his wife and three sons maintained the farmstead from no later than 1892 until at least 1931. The farmstead, particularly the fieldstone construction of the barn, is indicative of Ozaukee County's strong German argicultural tradition. Despite the barn's relatively good condition, its architectural and historical integrity are not sufficient to support NRHP eligibility. |
