STEPPED FALSE ROOFLINE. CORNER AND ENTRANCE ROUGH-CUT STONE PILASTERS. MOST OF BREWERY COMPLEX WAS RAZED DURING THE 1920s. The Ernst Klinkert Brewing Co., which began operations in 1881, was the largest of several Racine breweries. In order to compete with the much larger Milwaukee breweries, Klinkert bought many taverns in Racine and then leased them with the stipulation that only Klinkert beer be served in them. Operations continued until 1920 when Prohibition forced the brewery to close.

Resurveyed November 2009; window openings covered with corrugated metal. The building that remains is the original bottling plant.

2009: "This utilitarian building was constructed in 1881 and consists of two large building masses. Overall, the building is irregular in plan. The first building mass is 1-story and comprises the majority of the front (east) facade as it runs parallel to Washington Avenue for approximately 300 ft. It is clad in a cream brick veneer and has a stepped false roofline with rough-cut stone pilasters at the corners and on either side of the entrance. The remainder of the complex consists of a 2-story building mass attached to the north end of the 1-story section. This 2-story section is clad in cream brick as well, although the front elevation is venereed is a darker brick and has a cast stone veneer along its base. Throughout the complex, all windows and entries have been covered in corrugated metal sheeting."
