NOTES
Additional Information:The Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church organized in 1855 and built this church in 1873 at a cost of $2,700. Prominent Norwegian familes in the old First Ward and original members of the congregation included Magnus Hanson, a furniture manufacturer, and Stengrim Trulson, a boot and shoe manufacturer. Trulson's house is AHI #11596.

In 1924-25 the congregation completed the edifice at 340 N. Jackson (AHI #11854). The original church was used by other congregations until it was restored in 1984 for use as a studio. See also the Norwegian Lutheran Parsonage at AHI #11511.

"In Janesville, the Norwegian Evangelical Church was organized in 1855, and this building begun in 1871. Prominent Norwegian families in the old First Ward and original members of the congregation included Magnus Hanson, a furniture manufacturer, and Stengrim Trulson, a boot and shoe manufacturer.

In 1924-25 the congregation completed the edifice at 340 N. Jackson, which was reorganized as the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. The original church was used by other congregations until it was restored in 1984 for use as a studio. The original wooden siding and trim, lancet Gothic window surrounds, round window, and prominent finials were conserved of replicated, and the building is again a unique part of Look West."
