Additional Information: | C.F. Kindt was the builder. Resurveyed as part of Milwaukee Downtown Connector Arch/History Survey (2010), Prepared by Heritage Research. 2010: This four-story, Neoclassical-style building is constructed of brick and features commercial space on the first floor and apartments on the upper levels. The renovated storefront includes a pairs of entries topped with a stone pediment as well as a recessed, canted corner entrance at the southeast corner highlighted by a marble column. Modern plate-glass windows define the building's three commercial spaces. The upper three floors an both the south (main) and east facades display a pair of tripartite, canted bays outfitted with replacement double-hung sashes. A projecting parapet fabricated with gray brick is underlined by a plain cornice with block modillions. Raised brickwork resembling quoining accentuates the corners. The remaining fenestration is regularly placed and consists of replacement one-over-one, double-hung sashes. Designed by Chas. Crane and built in 1901. |
