Additional Information: | 1979 information: Good example of a Colonial Revival Style store/flat with tower and Palladian motif recessed gable window. Construction date, 1899. (1) Chas. Schoknecht, Builder. (2) Wm. Korb, Owner, 1899-?. (2) Largely painted a bright pink but otherwise has not changed much since survey in 1979. 2015- "This two-and-one-half-story, transitional Queen Anne-Colonial Revival-style structure is largely constructed of brick, while the two-story, corner tower and uppermost half-story are sheathed with wooden shingles. The storefront level has been altered and infilled with brick and a one-story addition with a crenelated brick cornice extends to the south. Less the tower, which features three sash windows along each level, along with the building name of Wm. Korb, the second level carries two sash windows, while the upper half-story includes a paired grouping set beneath a wooden lintel with garland detail. The uppermost edge is finished with brackets. Windows throughout the structure are a combination of styles, including one-over-one, three-over-one, six-over-one and fixed examples. Designed by Gustave A. Coldewe, the structure was built in 1899 by William Korb at an approximate cost of $5,800. It served as a sporting goods store through at least the early 1930s, with the owner’s quarters located above.
