Additional Information:Architectural Statement: This two-and-one-half story frame house exhibits features of the Queen Anne style including a multi-planed roof, horizontal siding, fish scale shingles, upper window sash with a border of small square lights, verge boards, and an encircling porch. The house is being restored with the support of the Janesville Department of Community Development.

Historical Statement: The house was built in about 1890. Sutherland was a physician whose wife, Helen Menzies Sutherland, was the second woman elected to the Janesville Board of Education, and the first woman elected president of the board. She served from 1920 to 1930.
