NOTES
Additional Information:Originally, the Lea Block was built in 1870 and was one of the oldest brick blocks in the city. Richard Lea was an early general merchant in the city and operated a successful business until the early twentieth century. In 1911, local businessmen organized the Farmers State Bank and located it in this building. The bank, which was very successful in the community, remained at this location until 1966.

Although the history of Richard Lea's general store and the development of the Farmers State Bank is historically significant in the city, this building is, unfortunately, currently non-contributing in the Main Street Historic District because a modern storefront hides the original Italianate style of the building. This storefront consists of a large metal panel over the second story and a glass and stone veneer storefront. If a historic appearance was returned to the building, it would be contributing in the district.
