Additional Information: | This warehouse building is a one and one-half story structure with a steeply-pitched gable roof, wood clapboard siding and utilitarian openings. The building sits on a stone foundation. The potato trade was the most important economic activity in Waupaca during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century and potato warehouses were located in this area near the rail lines. In fact, Waupaca was the center of the United States potato trade during this time. Many old potato warehouses have been demolished, altered, or have burned. This building, and its neighbor, are the best examples left in the city that represent this important era in the city. |
